Associate Safety Committees (ASCs) provide vital forums for team members and managers to discuss Amazon’s health and safety. Every Amazon Operations site has an ASC, and it’s another way for you to share feedback and help keep everyone “Safe to Go.”

Each committee is made up of associates who meet regularly with site leadership to share feedback on behalf of their site. While you can always share safety feedback directly with your manager, via Dragonfly, or on MyVoice, you can also speak to a committee member who can share feedback on your behalf.

ASCs are a key part of How We Listen and act on your feedback, making sure Amazonian voices directly shape our safety programs.

Contact your site Safety team to learn more about the ASC and your committee members. You can find your Safety team at the safety desk or on the floor wearing vests that say “Safe to Go” with green trim.

To help you remain “Safe to Go” this Peak, we're reminding everyone how they can reduce their risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), also known as sprains or strains. We talk about MSDs so frequently because they’re one of the most experienced workplace injuries, and because there are simple steps you can take to reduce your risk of developing one.

• Maintain a neutral or optimal posture for the task at hand. Use your Power Zone, keep items close to your body, and test the weight of an item before lifting it. Remember to change your grip, stance, or lifting technique as needed.

• Use the correct force when pulling, pushing, lifting, or lowering. Ask for help instead of overexerting yourself. Common signs that you're generating excessive force include holding your breath while pushing or pulling, groaning or grunting involuntarily, and straining to start or stop an object in motion.

• Take micro-breaks (20–30 seconds) and stretch while working. This helps prevent overexertion by repeating the same movement with the same muscle group over a long period. This is why many people are cross trained, so they can rotate through different tasks and process paths.

This spring, Amazon's meteorology team is forecasting more severe weather activity than normal across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Great Lakes regions. Expect increased risks of damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes, with more activity from April through June.

Know the difference between watches and warnings

• Severe thunderstorm watch: Conditions are favorable for severe weather. Stay alert and be ready to take action.

• Severe thunderstorm warning. Severe weather is happening now or is imminent. Take immediate action and seek shelter.

• Tornado watch. Conditions are favorable for tornadoes. Follow guidance from your site leaders and be ready to act.

• Tornado warning. A tornado has been spotted or detected on radar in your area. Go immediately to your site's designated Severe Weather Assembly Area (SWAA). These areas are clearly marked with SWAA signage throughout the facility.

• Tornado emergency. A large, dangerous tornado is heading toward a populated area. Take immediate action to stay safe.

Stay safe during severe weather

Spring storms can develop quickly, especially in the afternoon and evening. If you hear thunder, lightning is close enough to strike you. Head inside immediately.

• Lightning safety: Remember the 30-30 rule. If you see lightning and hear thunder within 30 seconds, seek shelter immediately. Stay inside until 30 minutes after the last thunder. No place outside is safe during a thunderstorm.

• Tornado safety: Know where your site's SWAA is and how to get there quickly from your workstation. When a tornado warning is issued for your area, stop what you're doing and go there immediately. Stay away from windows and exterior walls. Don't leave until site leadership gives the all-clear.

• Flooding safety: Never drive through flooded roadways. Just 12 inches of moving water can sweep away a vehicle. Turn around and find a safer route.

• Commuting during severe weather: If severe weather is forecast during your commute time, check A to Z before you leave home. Site leadership may adjust start times or temporarily close to keep you safe. If conditions get worse while you're commuting or you don't feel safe traveling to work, always prioritize your safety.

Amazon's meteorology team monitors weather conditions 24/7 and updates site leaders so they can act if conditions become unsafe. During active weather, you'll receive updates through A to Z and other channels if your site adjusts plans. Your site has specific severe weather protocols—make sure you always follow guidance from your site leadership during severe weather events.

Take action now

Update your contact information in A to Z today. Go to the "More" tab, select "My Profile," then "Manage Personal Information." Check your address, phone number, and emergency contacts. This ensures you'll receive important notifications.

Your safety is always the top priority. Stay alert to changing conditions. If you have questions about your site's severe weather procedures, talk to a Safety team member or site leader during your next shift.
