“I have an instinctive need to help people work through their issues. That’s why each member’s phone call is so important to me – and also why I chose to pursue my Master’s degree in counseling while here at Kroll. ”

“I appreciate transferring what I know about identity theft and restoration into Kroll’s outreach program for high school students. Teenagers need to understand the real risks and how important it is to safeguard personal data.”

Testimonials from Members*

"Because we are very conscientious about our finances, we were not only shocked but completely clueless how to address our issue.  Jimmy did a great job helping us know what to do to work through it and with his advice and guidance, we are confident it will be resolved as quickly as it can.  Please give him a pat on the back for us!"

"I am so glad that I had your service. You never want to find yourself in a fraud situation but it is comforting to know that there is someone to help when you do need it. Thank you very much for your service. "

My investigator was very professional and helped calm us down and sort out the issues when my husband's wallet was stolen.  We are very pleased with the service.  We have followed up on all of her suggestions.

"My social security number had been stolen and someone had filed a fake tax return.  We got a $9763 tax refund check in the mail and we had not filed our taxes yet,  I envisioned many terrible things happening, having to change all of my banking and credit information etc. After talking with my Investigator, I was able to get a good night’s sleep that night."

Plans Taking Shape for Fallen Star Veterans Memorial Arrival in East Hartford

Details of the arrival of the “Connecticut Fallen Star Memorial” are being finalized for an October arrival and November dedication on the Goodwin College campus in East Hartford. The impressive installation will honor the more than 30,000 Connecticut men and women who have given their lives in military service.

Thursday, October 24, is the projected delivery date of the Fallen Star in East Hartford. A motorcade of veterans is expected to meet the vehicle bearing the components of the sculpture at the Connecticut border and accompany it to the Pent Road site. While unconfirmed at present, plans are also being considered for a series of motorcades to cover the entire span from the point of origin in Maryland all the way to Connecticut. Details will be shared as traffic routes determined and safety concerns are addressed.

The creation of sculptor Will Hemsley features a star more than 20 feet tall and partially imbedded in the earth, with surrounding bronze figures of a man, woman, and child representing Connecticut Gold Star families. The cost of the physical structure, installation, and a fund for perpetual care is $300K, about half of which has been raised to date by a volunteer, non-profit committee of veterans, government officials, business representatives, Gold Star families, educators, and others.

The dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 9, beginning at 1 p.m. Craig Jordan, Veterans Coordinators for Student Affairs at Goodwin, will serve as master of ceremonies.

“While Goodwin is honored to be the host site for this incredible tribute, the Fallen Star is really the result of the hard work and grassroots efforts of Connecticut’s citizens,” he said. “Their tireless efforts to secure the funds to make sure that Connecticut’s servicemen and women are not forgotten are truly inspiring.”

Expected guests include sculptor Will Helmsley, Congressman John Larson, Connecticut Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Thomas Saadi, and Goodwin President Mark Scheinberg. Speakers include Paul Bucha, 1970 Medal of Honor recipient, who will deliver the keynote, and Connecticut Gold Star Mother Helen Keiser-Pedersen.

A reception is scheduled to follow at the College. There is no cost to attend the event and the public and members of the media are welcome.

More details will be released closer to the event. Questions on the dedication and ways to financially support the memorial may be directed to Rich McCarty, 860-727-6904 or

Law Enforcement and Public Safety Practice

As they navigate the complexities of the 21st century, law enforcement agencies are under increasing pressure and scrutiny. Faced with more challenges and responsibilities than ever, they must grapple with changes in technology, contend with new security threats, and in many cases, rethink their policing strategies and techniques to properly balance the needs of the community and the safety of their personnel.

Kroll’s Law Enforcement and Public Safety Consulting practice understands those pressures and challenges. We have assembled a team of leading experts who have spent decades in the criminal justice system, including former state and federal prosecutors and leaders from the highest ranks of major urban police departments, as well as specialists in areas like cybercrime and terrorism. Together, they offer invaluable wisdom from their own experiences as well as technical expertise in critical areas, including training, investigations, and evaluations. Through our 360-degree approach to law enforcement, Kroll supports agencies in every aspect of their mission

As the result of its long history working in the criminal justice system, Kroll is frequently hired as an independent party—by government officials at the state and local level, the U.S. Department of Justice and state attorneys general—to investigate and evaluate law enforcement practices and procedures, as well as alleged patterns of misconduct and specific incidents

We also work with law enforcement agencies to formulate strategies on how to improve practices and procedures, and promote an internal culture based on competence and integrity. Our goal is to help improve your agency’s performance and its relationship with the communities you serve.

A comprehensive evaluation of your law enforcement agency’s operations and management can help identify ways to improve staff performance, clarify missions and reporting structures, budget effectively, and strengthen relations with the community you serve. Kroll can also help find efficiencies and identify proper staffing levels.

We can also help prevent crises. Evidence room issues, use of force, internal affairs complaints, managing confidential informants—these are all areas that can lead a police agency into a scandal or crisis. An effective review by a credible outside party can give confidence to the public and prevent a crisis from happening.

Enforcement agencies of many sizes and in every major region of the United States have retained Kroll to review their operations, management, policies and procedures. Police chiefs and sheriffs, as well as the leaders of university and hospital police forces, also rely on Kroll to help improve their departments’ performance, efficiency and expertise. They also look to Kroll for benchmarks to compare their agency’s performance against their peers, and to develop best practices to follow in all areas.

An effective training program can improve your organization’s performance and safety, develop and sharpen your leadership skills, boost staff morale, and improve relations between law enforcement and the communities you serve. Whether you are looking to learn the latest police tactics, improve administrative and personnel management skills, or master leadership strategies to improve your agency’s internal culture and community engagement, Kroll offers training to help you achieve your goals.

Kroll has decades of experience training law enforcement groups and organizations of all sizes, as well as individuals at various professional levels and career stages. Our training services cover a range of basic and advanced skills geared toward new and experienced police chiefs, agency supervisors, and front line officers.

Over the past decade, government officials from the offices of large city mayors, the U.S. Department of Justice and state attorneys general have chosen Kroll to serve as a monitor in high-profile and sensitive cases involving law enforcement agencies.

We combine sophisticated investigative techniques, in-depth interviews, data analysis, forensic accounting and state-of-the art technology to ensure compliance at the highest ethical standards in both the private and public sectors.

We have extensive experience establishing plans for improving upon identified deficiencies and advising law enforcement leadership on strategies for reform; developing metrics for and measuring against proposed compliance improvement; and preparing detailed compliance reports for courts, regulators, and government agencies.
