To celebrate Women’s History Month, nearly 1,500 T1-L8 women leaders from across Customer Fulfillment TSSL (traditional sortable soft lines) sites participated in Women Lead Day. The fourth annual event organized by Women@ TSSL+ included 43 sites from across the country led by all-women teams for the day.
“My hope is that this initiative encourages more women to see themselves in these roles—not just for a day, but for their entire career,” said Mackenzie Sewell, site leader at DFW5 near Dallas, Texas, who helped organize the event.
Check out the pictures of these all-women Ops teams leading together. Visit Encompass if you’re interested in joining an employee-led group.
NEWS 2 minutes to read Our Progress Towards an Even More Inclusive Amazon Published: Aug 30, 2024 In 2022, we announced our plan to conduct a racial equity audit – a
third-party review of our
policies, programs, and practices intended to identify any potentially disparate impacts on U.S. hourly employees. The audit is just one part of the significant short- and long-term investments
we
continue to make in an effort to foster a more inclusive and welcoming workplace for all Amazonians. The review was led by the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison (Paul,
Weiss).
The audit wrapped up and we received the final report this month, so we wanted to share an update on the process and the observations. The third-party review incorporates feedback collected
during
in-person listening sessions conducted across the United States, a survey of thousands of U.S. hourly Operations employees, a review of hundreds of documents relating to the Amazonian employee
experience, and interviews with various site leaders, PXT employees, Amazon senior leaders, and subject matter experts. They then prepared a report, which you can find on About Amazon. The
report
highlights a number of areas where our existing policies, programs, and initiatives are actively contributing to a more inclusive and equitable Amazon. Examples include Affinity Groups fostering
a
sense of belonging and creating connections to our local communities, our comprehensive pay and benefits that are available on day one, robust onboarding and training programs, career advancement
and
training opportunities, and our commitment to Amazon’s escalation culture and the variety of feedback mechanisms available to Amazonians. Across Amazon, we remain committed to our vision to
build
inclusive and equitable experiences for our global base of employees, customers, and the communities we serve. Still, we recognize that this work is ongoing and that there’s more for us to do in
this
space and that we have opportunities to enhance Amazonians’ shared understanding of policies and practices. Looking for more? The full report is available on About Amazon.

Amazon has expanded and enhanced a variety of benefits and services to support you and your family on this journey. Here are a few ways your benefits can help manage expected and unexpected turns. 1. Guide for family planning, pregnancy, and bonding leave – Amazon is committed to making it easy for you to plan for leave if you or your partner are in the process of birthing, adopting, fostering, or coping with loss of a pregnancy. Use the guide for step-by-step instructions to prepare for your leave or return to work. 2. Mental health resources to support you in your journey – Mental health is a critical aspect of family-building. Amazon has many resources to help you and your partner navigate the new parenting rhythms of life, including in-the-moment counseling options in person or by video/chat, and a suite of self-guided tools and pregnancy-focused peer support forums. Visit A to Z’s mental health and well-being page to learn more. 3. Expanded reimbursement for adoption, surrogacy, and donor expenses – Amazon is expanding its reimbursement program beyond adoption to also include surrogacy and donor expenses. Each household may be reimbursed for up to $10,000 in eligible expenses such as agency fees, legal fees, and travel expenses. The adoption, surrogacy, and donor benefits are separate from each other, meaning you can use all three programs. Adoption and surrogacy reimbursement benefits are available to full-time, part-time, and reduced time employees working 20 hours or more (class F, H, and R) regardless of medical plan enrollment status. Donor tissue reimbursement benefits require you to be enrolled in an Amazon medical plan. You must have 90 days tenure at Amazon before you or a dependent can qualify for adoption/surrogacy/donor reimbursement. 4. New maternal warning signs training – Amazon teamed up with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to share important messages about maternal warning signs and empower you and your family to advocate for you or your partner’s health during and after pregnancy. 5. New pregnancy program with virtual doula – Amazon’s family-building benefit with Maven includes free unlimited access to virtual doulas throughout pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. Doulas are trained professionals who can provide informational, emotional, and physical support before, during, and after childbirth to improve the pregnancy and delivery experience. During virtual appointments, doulas can help you create a birth plan, discuss birth positions and breathing techniques, educate patients so they can advocate for themselves during the birthing process, and more. There’s no requirement to have gone through fertility treatment to speak to a virtual doula, and the doula benefit is available to Amazon employees and spouses/partners enrolled in an Amazon medical plan starting Day 1 of employment. 6. Enhanced fertility and family-building care – Amazon’s family-building benefit with Maven continues to offer financial coverage for fertility treatment if you are enrolled in a health plan with Amazon. Like other health procedures, you’ll share the cost of care with Amazon at a significantly reduced cost. New in 2025, the benefit also includes free, unlimited access to expert virtual care, a dedicated Care Advocate, on-demand classes, and expert-approved resources to support you whether you want to grow your family through fertility treatment, adoption, or surrogacy. No infertility diagnosis is required to get started. After 90 days of tenure at Amazon, you or your dependent can access in-person fertility treatment. 7. Pregnancy care through medical insurance – If enrolled in a medical insurance plan through Amazon, your plan covers a variety of preventive care, education, supplies, and more to support you through pregnancy and well after baby is born. For more information on Maven and Amazon’s family-building benefits, visit A to Z.

Chris Atkins, director of Worldwide Ops Sustainability, walks us through some of the highlights coming out of Climate Week NYC 2024.
- Things are happening fast. I was impressed and a little bit astonished at the momentum we’ve gained over the last 12 months. More and more people are stepping up to consider the ways their business and industry can take climate action. Wherever you work, I encourage you to really think about what waste and inefficiencies exist. Bring a climate action lens to every decision you make every day: you’ll find the right solutions for our planet.
- The Climate Pledge is driving action. It struck me that Amazon and the Climate Pledge are deeply involved in so many of the solutions that are necessary right now to take action against climate change. The power of the Pledge is its ability to bring signatories together.
- Electrification will be a critical component of our effort to decarbonize our on-road vehicles. I joined a discussion on what we need to put more electric vehicles on the road and I’m excited to see even more packages delivered by EVs globally as a result.
- Collaboration drives most impact. One long-term goal is to decarbonize our Operations, but we can’t just focus on what we can do in our existing operations. Amazon is working closely with steel production companies and supporting their research into new low-carbon steel. Long term we can use this steel in the sites of tomorrow, lowering the emissions of our future Operations.
- There’s cause to be hopeful. Fast forward 12 or 24 months, and I think the world will have made big strides forward in deploying the low carbon solutions that we need to scale up quickly and mitigate the worst impacts of climate change. I’m proud of where we’re going and I’m proud of the work that you all are doing. From reducing waste to renewable energy, the momentum of change is now with us.

Policy Reminders for a Safe and Fun Workplace
Published:
Dec 05, 2024
At Amazon, we're customer obsessed for both our employees and our customers. We strive to have fun, operate safely and respectfully, and deliver for our customers as a team. To do this, we must all
work better together to drive a positive working culture. It’s important for each of us to keep ourselves and workplace organized, safe, and ready to delight our customers.
Please review the below policies and make every effort to operate within them while employed at Amazon:
Working Hours Policy: Your safety and wellness are important to Amazon. Working hard also includes taking appropriate meal periods and
rest breaks. If you work more than five hours* in the workday, you're required to take an uninterrupted, work-free 30-minute meal period. This includes employees who work a single shift that's longer
than five hours or who work multiple shifts in a single workday that total more than five hours. Amazon expects managers who supervise hourly employees to provide employees with meal periods and rest
breaks in compliance with Amazon’s policies, federal and state law. Employees are responsible for taking all meal periods and rest breaks provided to them.
Owner’s Manual and Guide to Employment: This summarizes Amazon's basic personnel policies and practices, and is intended to serve as a resource concerning your employment at Amazon. It's designed to
provide you with an overview of Amazon's policies, procedures, and benefits.
Anti-Harassment: Amazon complies with laws against harassing conduct. We prohibit harassment based on a variety of personal characteristics including but not limited to age, color, creed, disability,
ethnicity, gender identity, national origin, maternity status, race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation.
Security Standards of Conduct: To protect the people, information, and assets of Amazon, Amazon people must conduct themselves in a manner that promotes a safe and secure work environment. This
standard provides the global baseline requirements for classifying and reporting security infractions. Deviation from this standard will expose Amazon to risks impacting people, information, and/or
assets.
Business Code of Conduct & Ethics: In performing their job duties, Amazon.com employees should always act lawfully, ethically, and in the best interests of Amazon.com. This Code of Business
Conduct and Ethics (the "Code of Conduct") sets out basic guiding principles. Employees who are unsure whether their conduct or the conduct of their coworkers complies with the Code of Conduct should
contact their manager or the Legal Department.
Please review these policies, and reach out to your manager with any questions you may have. You're welcome to reference these policies at any time on the A to Z app, or visit the MyHR tool for
additional help.
